what happens to me if i marry a sex offender in NM?

We have a 6 year old son together, and recently read that my son can be taken away, because i married a registered sex offender in NM, and recently read that I will be sent to file for child abuse registry because I am married to a registered sex offender. We are trying to be a family, but with all this, I am questioning what can happen to me and my family.

What kind of a mother marries a sex offender and puts their child at risk like that? That is abusive.
